In 2020-2021, 40,481 people earned their degree in general English literature, making the major the 24th most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, general English literature graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $29,881 and had an average of $23,769 in loans still to pay off.

Across the Southeast region, there were 8,884 general English literature graduates with average earnings and debt of $27,486 and $24,076 respectively. At the bachelor’s degree level specifically, there were 7,604 general English literature graduates with average earnings and debt of $37,400 and $27,180 respectively.

For this year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Southeast Region for English for a Bachelor’s” ranking, we looked at 109 colleges that offer a degree in general English literature. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great general English literature programs and a strong support system for veterans and active service members.

University of South Carolina - Columbia came in at #24 in this year’s edition of the Most Veteran Friendly in the Southeast Region for English for a Bachelor’s ranking. University of South Carolina - Columbia is a large school located in Columbia, South Carolina that handed out 85 bachelors’s English degrees in 2020-2021.

In addition to being on our southeast region bachelor’s degree vets studying english list, UofSC has also earned the #25 rank in our “Best General English Literature Bachelor’s Degree Schools in the Southeast Region” ranking.Among the 35,470 students enrolled at UofSC, 1,609 are GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 651 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average Post-9/11 GI Bill® award for tuition and fees at the school was $8,453.
