In 2020-2021, 40,481 people earned their degree in general English literature, making the major the 24th most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, general English literature graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $29,881 and had an average of $23,769 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Far Western US region, there were 8,022 general English literature graduates with average earnings and debt of $29,222 and $21,099 respectively.

This ranking identifies schools with high-quality general English literature programs as well as strong veteran support.

Out of the 12 schools in the Most Veteran Friendly in the Far Western US Region for English for a Doctorate that were part of this year’s ranking, University of Washington - Seattle Campus landed the #1 spot on the list. University of Washington - Seattle Campus is a large school located in Seattle, Washington that handed out 12 doctorate’s English degrees in 2020-2021.
