General English Literature is the 24th most popular major in the country with 40,481 degrees awarded in 2020-2021. In 2019-2020, general English literature graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $29,881 and had an average of $23,769 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Great Lakes region, there were 4,484 general English literature graduates with average earnings and debt of $29,583 and $24,829 respectively.

DePaul University did quite well in the 2023 Most Veteran Friendly in the Great Lakes Region for English for a Master’s ranking, coming in at #25. DePaul University is a large school located in Chicago, Illinois that handed out 6 masters’s English degrees in 2020-2021.
