When it comes to choosing a college, veterans have a lot of options - but not all of them are good. College Factual was founded, in part, to help students make the decision as to what would be the best school for them. Our “Most Veteran Friendly in the Southwest Region for Writing for a Bachelor’s” ranking is part of that endeavor.
Writing Studies is the 81st most popular major in the country with 12,529 degrees awarded in 2020-2021. In 2019-2020, writing studies graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $32,208 and had an average of $24,626 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Southwest region, there were 1,056 writing studies graduates with average earnings and debt of $37,760 and $24,609 respectively. At the bachelor’s degree level specifically, there were 586 writing studies graduates with average earnings and debt of $40,112 and $26,227 respectively.
This year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Southwest Region for Writing for a Bachelor’s” ranking analyzed 13 colleges that offered a degree in writing studies. Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent writing studies programs, but they also offer a lot of support to veterans and active service members.

Located in Tempe, Arizona, this large public school awarded 8 degrees to qualified bachelors’s writing students in 2020-2021.
In addition to being on our southwest region bachelor’s degree vets studying writing list, ASU - Tempe has also earned the #8 rank in our “Best Writing Studies Bachelor’s Degree Schools in the Southwest Region” ranking.Our most recent data shows that 7,566 of the 74,795 students enrolled at Arizona State University - Tempe were GI Bill® students, of which 3,828 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. Baylor also took the #7 spot in our “Best Writing Studies Bachelor’s Degree Schools in the Southwest Region” ranking.According to our most recent data, Baylor supports 19,297 students, and 876 of those are GI Bill® students, of which 593 are Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients.
