In 2020-2021, 12,529 people earned their degree in writing studies, making the major the 81st most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, writing studies graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $32,208 and had an average of $24,626 in loans still to pay off.

Across the Southeast region, there were 3,131 writing studies graduates with average earnings and debt of $31,720 and $25,773 respectively.

This year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Southeast Region for Writing for a Master’s” ranking analyzed 43 colleges that offered a degree in writing studies. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great writing studies programs and a strong support system for veterans and active service members.

With a ranking of #23, University of Arkansas at Little Rock did quite well on the 2023 Most Veteran Friendly in the Southeast Region for Writing for a Master’s list. UA Little Rock is a medium-sized school located in Little Rock, Arkansas that handed out 21 masters’s writing degrees in 2020-2021.

University of North Carolina at Greensboro ranked #24 on this year’s Most Veteran Friendly in the Southeast Region for Writing for a Master’s list. Located in Greensboro, North Carolina, this fairly large public school handed out 11 degrees to qualified masters’s writing students in 2020-2021.

According to our most recent data, UNC Greensboro supports 19,764 students, and 885 of those are GI Bill® students, of which 329 are Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. UofSC is located in Columbia, South Carolina and, has a large student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 6 masters’s writing degrees to qualified students.

Among the 35,470 students enrolled at UofSC, 1,609 are GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 651 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients.
