When pursuing a degree in today’s world, veterans have many different options to choose from. College Factual was founded, in part, to help students make the decision as to what would be the best school for them. Our “Most Veteran Friendly in the New England Region for United States Studies for a Bachelor’s” ranking is part of that endeavor.
In 2020-2021, 1,419 people earned their degree in American U.S. studies, making the major the 350th most popular in the United States.
Across the New England region, there were 247 American U.S. studies graduates with average earnings and debt of $0 and $0 respectively. At the bachelor’s degree level specifically, there were 208 American U.S. studies graduates with average earnings and debt of $42,403 and $25,944 respectively.
For this year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the New England Region for United States Studies for a Bachelor’s” ranking, we looked at 11 colleges that offer a degree in American U.S. studies. Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent American U.S. studies programs, but they also offer a lot of support to veterans and active service members.

Top 11 Best American U.S. Studies Bachelor’s Degree Colleges for Veterans in the New England Region
You’ll join some of the best and brightest minds around if you attend Brown University. The school came in at #1 for the Most Veteran Friendly in the New England Region for United States Studies for a Bachelor’s. Located in Providence, Rhode Island, this fairly large private not-for-profit school handed out 13 diplomas to qualified bachelors’s United States studies students in 2020-2021.
As a testament to the quality of education offered at Brown, the school also landed the #1 spot in our “Best American U.S. Studies Bachelor’s Degree Schools in the New England Region” ranking.Of the 9,948 students enrolled at Brown, 98 were GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 19 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average Post-9/11 GI Bill® award for tuition and fees at the school was $20,111. Brandeis is a medium-sized private not-for-profit school situated in Waltham, Massachusetts. It awarded 12 bachelors’s United States studies degrees in 2020-2021.

It placed #3 on our “Best American U.S. Studies Bachelor’s Degree Schools in the New England Region” list.According to our most recent data, Brandeis supports 5,440 students, and 41 of those are GI Bill® students, of which 22 are Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. This fairly large school is located in Boston, Massachusetts, and it awarded 8 bachelors’s United States studies degrees in 2020-2021.
UMass Boston not only placed well in this ranking. It is also #11 on our “Best American U.S. Studies Bachelor’s Degree Schools in the New England Region” list.Of the 16,259 students enrolled at UMass Boston, 678 were GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data.
