In 2020-2021, 2,906 people earned their degree in general family and consumer sciences, making the major the 168th most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, general family and consumer sciences graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $30,445 and had an average of $27,314 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Southeast region, there were 859 general family and consumer sciences graduates with average earnings and debt of $27,635 and $31,435 respectively. At the bachelor’s degree level specifically, there were 675 general family and consumer sciences graduates with average earnings and debt of $37,400 and $27,180 respectively.
