Our “Most Veteran Friendly in Texas for Human Development” ranking is one tool we have developed to help in this regard.
In 2020-2021, 42,112 people earned their degree in human development and family studies, making the major the 44th most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, human development and family studies graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $28,862 and had an average of $22,387 in loans still to pay off.
Across Texas, there were 2,107 human development and family studies graduates with average earnings and debt of $28,850 and $22,777 respectively.
For this year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in Texas for Human Development” ranking, we looked at 10 colleges that offer a degree in human development and family studies. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great human development and family studies programs and a strong support system for veterans and active service members.

Top 10 Best Human Development & Family Studies Colleges for Veterans in Texas
You’ll join some of the best and brightest minds around if you attend Texas Tech University. The school came in at #1 for the Most Veteran Friendly in Texas for Human Development. Texas Tech University is located in Lubbock, Texas and, has a large student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 217 ’s human development degrees to qualified students.
Texas Tech not only placed well in this ranking. El Paso Community College ranked #8 on this year’s Most Veteran Friendly in Texas for Human Development list. El Paso Community College is a large school located in El Paso, Texas that handed out 55 ’s human development degrees in 2020-2021.

Abilene Christian University landed the #10 spot on the 2023 Most Veteran Friendly in Texas for Human Development ranking. Abilene Christian University is a small school located in Abilene, Texas that handed out 19 ’s human development degrees in 2020-2021.
