In 2020-2021, 40,596 people earned their degree in public health, making the major the 26th most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, public health graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $43,158 and had an average of $27,396 in loans still to pay off.
Across Maryland, there were 1,802 public health graduates with average earnings and debt of $56,873 and $18,225 respectively.
This year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in Maryland for Public Health” ranking looked at 11 colleges that offer degrees in a bachelor’s in public health. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality public health programs as well as strong veteran support.

Out of the 11 schools in the Most Veteran Friendly in Maryland for Public Health that were part of this year’s ranking, University of Maryland - College Park landed the #1 spot on the list. This large school is located in College Park, Maryland, and it awarded 516 ’s public health degrees in 2020-2021.

Baltimore, Maryland is the setting for this large institution of higher learning. The private not-for-profit school handed out ’s public health degrees to 1,002 students in 2020-2021.

Located in Salisbury, Maryland, this medium-sized public school handed out 42 diplomas to qualified ’s public health students in 2020-2021.
Salisbury did well in our major quality rankings, too. Anne Arundel Community College came in at #10 in this year’s edition of the Most Veteran Friendly in Maryland for Public Health ranking. AACC is a fairly large public school situated in Arnold, Maryland. It awarded 4 ’s public health degrees in 2020-2021.
