In 2020-2021, 977,800 health professions students received their degree, making the major the 2nd most popular in the country. In 2019-2020, health professions graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $47,927 and had an average of $20,846 in loans still to pay off.
Across Connecticut, there were 9,590 health professions graduates with average earnings and debt of $57,462 and $21,196 respectively. At the associate degree level specifically, there were 1,660 health professions graduates with average earnings and debt of $39,377 and $19,767 respectively.
For this year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in Connecticut for Health Professions for an Associate” ranking, we looked at 12 colleges that offer a degree in health professions. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great health professions programs and a strong support system for veterans and active service members.
To come up with these rankings, we looked at factors such as veteran satisfaction, veteran affordability, and overall quality of the health professions program at the school. For more information, check out our ranking methodology.

The school came in at #1 for the Most Veteran Friendly in Connecticut for Health Professions for an Associate. Sacred Heart is a medium-sized private not-for-profit school situated in Fairfield, Connecticut. It awarded 92 associates’s health professions degrees in 2020-2021.
In addition to being on our connecticut associate degree vets studying health professions list, Sacred Heart has also earned the #1 rank in our “Best Health Professions Associate Degree Schools in Connecticut” ranking.Of the 9,313 students enrolled at Sacred Heart University, 139 were GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 82 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $12,785. During this same period, 35 students qualified for the Yellow Ribbon Program. Sacred Heart University does offer credit for military training for eligible students.
