In 2020-2021, 556,813 liberal arts general studies students received their degree, making the major the 1st most popular in the country. In 2019-2020, liberal arts general studies graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $28,337 and had an average of $17,430 in loans still to pay off.
Across Alabama, there were 7,854 liberal arts general studies graduates with average earnings and debt of $24,128 and $14,403 respectively.
This year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in Alabama for Liberal Arts” ranking analyzed 26 colleges that offered a degree in liberal arts general studies. Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent liberal arts general studies programs, but they also offer a lot of support to veterans and active service members.

Out of the 26 schools in the Most Veteran Friendly in Alabama for Liberal Arts that were part of this year’s ranking, University of Alabama at Birmingham landed the #1 spot on the list. This large school is located in Birmingham, Alabama, and it awarded 98 ’s liberal arts degrees in 2020-2021.
