In 2020-2021, 556,813 liberal arts / sciences and humanities students received their degree, making the major the 3rd most popular in the country. In 2019-2020, liberal arts / sciences and humanities graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $28,337 and had an average of $17,430 in loans still to pay off.

Across the Great Lakes region, there were 60,741 liberal arts / sciences and humanities graduates with average earnings and debt of $29,415 and $19,554 respectively. At the associate degree level specifically, there were 41,009 liberal arts / sciences and humanities graduates with average earnings and debt of $36,077 and $19,490 respectively.

This year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Great Lakes Region for Liberal Arts / Sciences & Humanities for an Associate” ranking analyzed 119 colleges that offered a degree in liberal arts / sciences and humanities. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great liberal arts / sciences and humanities programs and a strong support system for veterans and active service members.
