In 2020-2021, 30,202 people earned their degree in mathematics, making the major the 35th most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, mathematics graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $45,168 and had an average of $21,863 in loans still to pay off.

Across Illinois, there were 1,071 mathematics graduates with average earnings and debt of $47,720 and $21,621 respectively.

For this year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in Illinois for Math” ranking, we looked at 12 colleges that offer a degree in mathematics. Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent mathematics programs, but they also offer a lot of support to veterans and active service members.

To come up with these rankings, we looked at factors such as veteran satisfaction, veteran affordability, and overall quality of the mathematics program at the school. For more information, check out our ranking methodology.

University of Chicago is located in Chicago, Illinois and, has a fairly large student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 220 ’s math degrees to qualified students.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Southern Illinois University Edwardsville. It ranked #4 on our 2023 Most Veteran Friendly in Illinois for Math list. Edwardsville, Illinois is the setting for this fairly large institution of higher learning. The public school handed out ’s math degrees to 24 students in 2020-2021.

SIUE did well in our major quality rankings, too. Loyola University Chicago landed the #7 spot on the 2023 Most Veteran Friendly in Illinois for Math ranking. Chicago, Illinois is the setting for this fairly large institution of higher learning. The private not-for-profit school handed out ’s math degrees to 29 students in 2020-2021.

Loyola Chicago also took the #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] spot in our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” ranking.Our most recent data shows that 261 of the 16,893 students enrolled at Loyola University Chicago were GI Bill® students, of which 165 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients.
