Mathematics is the 35th most popular major in the country with 30,202 degrees awarded in 2020-2021. In 2019-2020, mathematics graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $45,168 and had an average of $21,863 in loans still to pay off.
Across Virginia, there were 694 mathematics graduates with average earnings and debt of $47,297 and $23,051 respectively.
For this year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in Virginia for Math” ranking, we looked at 9 colleges that offer a degree in mathematics. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality mathematics programs as well as strong veteran support.

Top 9 Best Mathematics Colleges for Veterans in Virginia
Out of the 9 schools in the Most Veteran Friendly in Virginia for Math that were part of this year’s ranking, William & Mary landed the #1 spot on the list. Located in Williamsburg, Virginia, this medium-sized public school handed out 56 degrees to qualified ’s math students in 2020-2021.
William & Mary also made our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” list, coming in at #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS].According to our most recent data, William & Mary supports 8,939 students, and 531 of those are GI Bill® students, of which 349 are Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. JMU is a public institution located in Harrisonburg, Virginia. The school has a large population, and it awarded 70 ’s degrees in 2020-2021.
