Our “Most Veteran Friendly in the Plains States Region for International Studies” ranking is one tool we have developed to help in this regard.
In 2020-2021, 7,368 people earned their degree in international studies, making the major the 100th most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, international studies graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $34,198 and had an average of $21,594 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Plains States region, there were 461 international studies graduates with average earnings and debt of $24,909 and $21,789 respectively.
For this year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Plains States Region for International Studies” ranking, we looked at 16 colleges that offer a degree in international studies. Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent international studies programs, but they also offer a lot of support to veterans and active service members.

Out of the 16 schools in the Most Veteran Friendly in the Plains States Region for International Studies that were part of this year’s ranking, University of Kansas landed the #1 spot on the list. University of Kansas is a large school located in Lawrence, Kansas that handed out 54 ’s international studies degrees in 2020-2021.
KU did well in our major quality rankings, too.
