In 2020-2021, 1,302 people earned their degree in mathematics and computer science, making the major the 221st most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, mathematics and computer science graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $80,867 and had an average of $19,874 in loans still to pay off.
At the bachelor’s degree level specifically, there were 993 mathematics and computer science graduates with average earnings and debt of $39,682 and $26,217 respectively.

This ranking identifies schools with high-quality mathematics and computer science programs as well as strong veteran support.

Out of the 26 schools in the Most Veteran Friendly for Math & CompSci for a Bachelor’s that were part of this year’s ranking, Massachusetts Institute of Technology landed the #1 spot on the list. Located in Cambridge, Massachusetts, this fairly large private not-for-profit school handed out 32 diplomas to qualified bachelors’s math and compsci students in 2020-2021.

Pepperdine University did quite well in the 2023 Most Veteran Friendly for Math & CompSci for a Bachelor’s ranking, coming in at #25. Pepperdine is located in Malibu, California and, has a fairly large student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 12 bachelors’s math and compsci degrees to qualified students.
Pepperdine did well in our major quality rankings, too. It placed #13 on our “Best Mathematics & Computer Science Bachelor’s Degree Schools” list.Of the 9,554 students enrolled at Pepperdine University, 458 were GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 288 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $19,329. In addition to receiving other benefits, 180 students received funds through the Yellow Ribbon Program.
