In 2020-2021, 67,146 people earned their degree in health and physical education, making the major the 11th most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, health and physical education graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $31,386 and had an average of $24,576 in loans still to pay off.
Across Tennessee, there were 2,405 health and physical education graduates with average earnings and debt of $30,326 and $24,544 respectively.
For this year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in Tennessee for Phys Ed” ranking, we looked at 13 colleges that offer a degree in health and physical education. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality health and physical education programs as well as strong veteran support.

The University of Tennessee - Knoxville is a large public school situated in Knoxville, Tennessee. It awarded 414 ’s phys ed degrees in 2020-2021.
UT Knoxville also made our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” list, coming in at #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS].Among the 30,559 students enrolled at The University of Tennessee - Knoxville, 1,122 are GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data.
