With all of the options veterans have for higher education today, it can be tough to choose which direction to take. Our “Most Veteran Friendly in the Great Lakes Region for Philosophy” ranking is part of that endeavor.
In 2020-2021, 10,054 people earned their degree in philosophy, making the major the 83rd most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, philosophy graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $30,510 and had an average of $21,514 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Great Lakes region, there were 1,386 philosophy graduates with average earnings and debt of $27,875 and $22,886 respectively.
This year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Great Lakes Region for Philosophy” ranking analyzed 11 colleges that offered a degree in philosophy. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality philosophy programs as well as strong veteran support.

Located in Columbus, Ohio, this large public school handed out 31 diplomas to qualified ’s philosophy students in 2020-2021.

In addition to being on our great lakes region vets studying philosophy list, Franciscan U has also earned the #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] rank in our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” ranking.Our most recent data shows that 90 of the 3,304 students enrolled at Franciscan University of Steubenville were GI Bill® students, of which 56 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $13,993. On top of their other funding sources, 17 students received funds through the Yellow Ribbon Program. Eligible students may be able to receive credit for their military training.
