In 2020-2021, 21,239 people earned their degree in chemistry, making the major the 51st most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, chemistry graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $40,656 and had an average of $22,680 in loans still to pay off.

Across the Southeast region, there were 5,043 chemistry graduates with average earnings and debt of $36,477 and $22,736 respectively.

For this year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Southeast Region for Chemistry” ranking, we looked at 56 colleges that offer a degree in chemistry. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality chemistry programs as well as strong veteran support.
