In 2020-2021, 7,140 people earned their degree in homeland security, making the major the 117th most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, homeland security graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $52,213 and had an average of $28,747 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Southwest region, there were 782 homeland security graduates with average earnings and debt of $53,185 and $27,358 respectively. At the associate degree level specifically, there were 74 homeland security graduates with average earnings and debt of $35,810 and $18,681 respectively.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Rose State College. It ranked #1 on our 2023 Most Veteran Friendly in the Southwest Region for Homeland Security for an Associate list. Rose State College is a public institution located in Midwest City, Oklahoma. The school has a medium-sized population, and it awarded 4 associates’s degrees in 2020-2021.
RSC did well in our major quality rankings, too. It placed #2 on our “Best Homeland Security Associate Degree Schools in the Southwest Region” list.Of the 6,722 students enrolled at RSC, 540 were GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. The school came in at #2 for the Most Veteran Friendly in the Southwest Region for Homeland Security for an Associate. Schaumburg, Illinois is the setting for this fairly large institution of higher learning. The private for-profit school handed out associates’s homeland security degrees to 11 students in 2020-2021.
AIU Online also made our “Best Homeland Security Associate Degree Schools in the Southwest Region” list, coming in at #1.Our most recent data shows that 640 of the 15,415 students enrolled at AIU Online were GI Bill® students, of which 665 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $6,136. During this same period, 9 students qualified for the Yellow Ribbon Program. Arizona Western College is located in Yuma, Arizona and, has a medium-sized student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 18 associates’s homeland security degrees to qualified students.
