With all of the options veterans have for higher education today, it can be tough to choose which direction to take. Our mission at College Factual is to arm you with as much information as we can to help you make that decision. Our “Most Veteran Friendly in the New England Region for Dance” ranking is one tool we have developed to help in this regard.

Dance is the 158th most popular major in the country with 3,288 degrees awarded in 2020-2021. In 2019-2020, dance graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $22,085 and had an average of $24,389 in loans still to pay off.

Across the New England region, there were 172 dance graduates with average earnings and debt of $21,390 and $27,000 respectively.

This year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the New England Region for Dance” ranking looked at 10 colleges that offer degrees in a bachelor’s in dance. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great dance programs and a strong support system for veterans and active service members.

To come up with these rankings, we looked at factors such as veteran satisfaction, veteran affordability, and overall quality of the dance program at the school. See our ranking methodology to learn more.

Out of the 10 schools in the Most Veteran Friendly in the New England Region for Dance that were part of this year’s ranking, University of Massachusetts Amherst landed the #1 spot on the list. Located in Amherst, Massachusetts, this large public school awarded 16 diplomas to qualified ’s dance students in 2020-2021.

UMass Amherst also made our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” list, coming in at #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS].Of the 31,642 students enrolled at University of Massachusetts Amherst, 477 were GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 252 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average Post-9/11 GI Bill® award for tuition and fees at the school was $8,295. During this same period, 21 students received scholarships through the Yellow Ribbon Program. Eligible students may be able to receive credit for their military training.

With a freshman retention rate of 89%, the school does an excellent job of retaining its undergraduate students. The school has an impressive undergrad student loan default rate. It’s only [DEFAULT_RATE_STRING]%, which is much lower than the national rate of 10.1%.

Berklee College of Music not only placed well in this ranking. It is also #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] on our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” list.Of the 6,631 students enrolled at Berklee College of Music, 365 were GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. University of Vermont came in at #6 in this year’s edition of the Most Veteran Friendly in the New England Region for Dance ranking. UVM is located in Burlington, Vermont and, has a fairly large student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 6 ’s dance degrees to qualified students.

UVM also made our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” list, coming in at #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS].Of the 13,292 students enrolled at University of Vermont, 218 were GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 142 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $10,767.
