Design & Applied Arts is the 36th most popular major in the country with 36,301 degrees awarded in 2020-2021. In 2019-2020, design and applied arts graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $31,426 and had an average of $25,481 in loans still to pay off.
Across the New England region, there were 1,952 design and applied arts graduates with average earnings and debt of $35,122 and $26,301 respectively.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Northeastern University. It ranked #1 on our 2023 Most Veteran Friendly in the New England Region for Design for a Master’s list. Boston, Massachusetts is the setting for this large institution of higher learning. The private not-for-profit school handed out masters’s design degrees to 17 students in 2020-2021.
Northeastern also made our “Best Design & Applied Arts Master’s Degree Schools in the New England Region” list, coming in at #2.Among the 22,905 students enrolled at Northeastern, 9 are GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Boston U also made our “Best Design & Applied Arts Master’s Degree Schools in the New England Region” list, coming in at #1.Of the 32,718 students enrolled at Boston U, 15 were GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data.
