In 2020-2021, 36,301 people earned their degree in design and applied arts, making the major the 36th most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, design and applied arts graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $31,426 and had an average of $25,481 in loans still to pay off.

Across New York, there were 4,452 design and applied arts graduates with average earnings and debt of $30,453 and $20,127 respectively.

This year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in New York for Design” ranking looked at 38 colleges that offer degrees in a bachelor’s in design and applied arts. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality design and applied arts programs as well as strong veteran support.

When determining these rankings, we looked at things such as overall quality of the design and applied arts program at the school, veteran affordability, and veteran satisfaction. See our ranking methodology to learn more.
