In 2020-2021, 2,184 people earned their degree in photography, making the major the 310th most popular in the United States.
This year’s “Most Veteran Friendly for Photography” ranking looked at 97 colleges that offer degrees in a bachelor’s in photography. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality photography programs as well as strong veteran support.
When determining these rankings, we looked at things such as overall quality of the photography program at the school, veteran affordability, and veteran satisfaction. Check out our ranking methodology for more information.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Academy of Art University. It ranked #1 on our 2023 Most Veteran Friendly for Photography list. Academy of Art University is a medium-sized private for-profit school situated in San Francisco, California. It awarded 93 ’s photography degrees in 2020-2021.
Academy of Art University not only placed well in this ranking.
