When it comes to choosing a college, students have a lot of options - but not all of them are good. College Factual has developed its “Most Well Attended Film Major in Florida” ranking as one item you can use to help make this decision.
In 2020-2021, 16,778 people earned their degree in film, video and photographic arts, making the major the 62nd most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, film, video and photographic arts graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $24,170 and had an average of $25,804 in loans still to pay off.
Across Florida, there were 1,581 film, video and photographic arts graduates with average earnings and debt of $21,547 and $19,242 respectively.
For this year’s “Most Well Attended Film Major in Florida” ranking, we looked at 24 colleges that offer a degree in film, video and photographic arts. To top this list, a school must have a successful film, video and photographic arts program that graduates more students in the field than other colleges that offer the same major.

Out of the 24 schools in the Most Well Attended Film Major in Florida that were part of this year’s ranking, University of Central Florida landed the #2 spot on the list. UCF is a public institution located in Orlando, Florida. The school has a large population, and it awarded 144 ’s degrees in 2020-2021.
The school has an impressive undergrad student loan default rate. It’s only 3.7%, which is much lower than the national rate of 10.1%. The school has an excellent freshman retention rate of 92%, which means students like the school well enough to return for a second year.

You’ll join some of the best and brightest minds around if you attend Miami Dade College. The school came in at #3 for the Most Well Attended Film Major in Florida. Miami, Florida is the setting for this large institution of higher learning. The public school handed out ’s film degrees to 152 students in 2020-2021.
You’ll join some of the best and brightest minds around if you attend University of Miami. The school came in at #4 for the Most Well Attended Film Major in Florida. This fairly large school is located in Coral Gables, Florida, and it awarded 56 ’s film degrees in 2020-2021.
Students who start out at the school are likely to stick around. The freshman retention rate is 91%. The school has an impressive undergrad student loan default rate. It’s only 1.9%, which is much lower than the national rate of 10.1%.
You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Valencia College. It ranked #5 on our 2023 Most Well Attended Film Major in Florida list. Valencia College is located in Orlando, Florida and, has a large student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 102 ’s film degrees to qualified students.

With a ranking of #6, Florida State University did quite well on the 2023 Most Well Attended Film Major in Florida list. Located in Tallahassee, Florida, this large public school handed out 52 degrees to qualified ’s film students in 2020-2021.
The school has an impressive undergrad student loan default rate. It’s only 2.8%, which is much lower than the national rate of 10.1%. With a freshman retention rate of 95%, the school does an excellent job of retaining its undergraduate students.

The University of Tampa ranked #7 on this year’s Most Well Attended Film Major in Florida list. UT is a fairly large private not-for-profit school situated in Tampa, Florida. It awarded 25 ’s film degrees in 2020-2021.
The low undergrad student loan default rate of 3.4% is a good sign that students have an easier time paying off their loans than they might at other schools. For comparison, the national default rate is 10.1%.
