In 2020-2021, 6,355 people earned their degree in general visual and performing arts, making the major the 116th most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, general visual and performing arts graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $25,134 and had an average of $26,019 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Great Lakes region, there were 413 general visual and performing arts graduates with average earnings and debt of $24,172 and $32,890 respectively. At the bachelor’s degree level specifically, there were 190 general visual and performing arts graduates with average earnings and debt of $40,343 and $26,790 respectively.
This year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Great Lakes Region for Visual Arts for a Bachelor’s” ranking looked at 10 colleges that offer degrees in a bachelor’s in general visual and performing arts. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality general visual and performing arts programs as well as strong veteran support.

You’ll join some of the best and brightest minds around if you attend University of Wisconsin - Whitewater. The school came in at #2 for the Most Veteran Friendly in the Great Lakes Region for Visual Arts for a Bachelor’s. UW - Whitewater is located in Whitewater, Wisconsin and, has a fairly large student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 41 bachelors’s visual arts degrees to qualified students.

Grace College is a private not-for-profit institution located in Winona Lake, Indiana. The school has a small population, and it awarded 2 bachelors’s degrees in 2020-2021.
