When it comes to choosing a college, veterans have a lot of options - but not all of them are good. In 2020-2021, 149,215 visual and performing arts students received their degree, making the major the 10th most popular in the country. In 2019-2020, visual and performing arts graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $26,700 and had an average of $25,051 in loans still to pay off.
Across Wisconsin, there were 2,526 visual and performing arts graduates with average earnings and debt of $27,745 and $26,721 respectively. At the bachelor’s degree level specifically, there were 1,754 visual and performing arts graduates with average earnings and debt of $41,390 and $27,888 respectively.
For this year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in Wisconsin for Visual & Performing Arts for a Bachelor’s” ranking, we looked at 13 colleges that offer a degree in visual and performing arts. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality visual and performing arts programs as well as strong veteran support.

The school came in at #2 for the Most Veteran Friendly in Wisconsin for Visual & Performing Arts for a Bachelor’s. UW - Stevens Point is a medium-sized school located in Stevens Point, Wisconsin that handed out 140 bachelors’s visual and performing arts degrees in 2020-2021.
UW - Stevens Point also took the #5 spot in our “Best Visual & Performing Arts Bachelor’s Degree Schools in Wisconsin” ranking.Our most recent data shows that 343 of the 8,302 students enrolled at UW - Stevens Point were GI Bill® students, of which 129 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. Located in Menomonie, Wisconsin, this medium-sized public school handed out 170 diplomas to qualified bachelors’s visual and performing arts students in 2020-2021.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend University of Wisconsin - Milwaukee. It ranked #4 on our 2023 Most Veteran Friendly in Wisconsin for Visual & Performing Arts for a Bachelor’s list. UWM is a large school located in Milwaukee, Wisconsin that handed out 286 bachelors’s visual and performing arts degrees in 2020-2021.
UWM also took the #3 spot in our “Best Visual & Performing Arts Bachelor’s Degree Schools in Wisconsin” ranking.Our most recent data shows that 983 of the 24,565 students enrolled at UWM were GI Bill® students, of which 494 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. This fairly large school is located in Eau Claire, Wisconsin, and it awarded 106 bachelors’s visual and performing arts degrees in 2020-2021.

UW - La Crosse is located in La Crosse, Wisconsin and, has a fairly large student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 32 bachelors’s visual and performing arts degrees to qualified students.

Whitewater, Wisconsin is the setting for this fairly large institution of higher learning. The public school handed out bachelors’s visual and performing arts degrees to 108 students in 2020-2021.

University of Wisconsin - River Falls is a public institution located in River Falls, Wisconsin. The school has a medium-sized population, and it awarded 44 bachelors’s degrees in 2020-2021.
UW - River Falls not only placed well in this ranking. Carthage College is a private not-for-profit institution located in Kenosha, Wisconsin. The school has a small population, and it awarded 46 bachelors’s degrees in 2020-2021.
Carthage did well in our major quality rankings, too. It placed #6 on our “Best Visual & Performing Arts Bachelor’s Degree Schools in Wisconsin” list.According to our most recent data, Carthage College supports 2,763 students, and 39 of those are GI Bill® students, of which 25 are Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. Oshkosh, Wisconsin is the setting for this fairly large institution of higher learning. The public school handed out bachelors’s visual and performing arts degrees to 48 students in 2020-2021.
