With all of the options veterans have for higher education today, it can be tough to choose which direction to take. Our mission at College Factual is to arm you with as much information as we can to help you make that decision. Our “Most Veteran Friendly in Connecticut for Visual & Performing Arts” ranking is one tool we have developed to help in this regard.
With 149,215 degrees handed out in 2020-2021, visual and performing arts is the 10th most popular major in the United States. In 2019-2020, visual and performing arts graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $26,700 and had an average of $25,051 in loans still to pay off.
Across Connecticut, there were 1,564 visual and performing arts graduates with average earnings and debt of $27,177 and $25,508 respectively.
This year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in Connecticut for Visual & Performing Arts” ranking analyzed 10 colleges that offered a degree in visual and performing arts. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great visual and performing arts programs and a strong support system for veterans and active service members.
Some of the factors we look at when determining these rankings are overall quality of the visual and performing arts program at the school, veteran affordability, and veteran population. For more information, check out our ranking methodology.

The colleges and universities below are the best for connecticut vets studying visual & performing arts.
Out of the 10 schools in the Most Veteran Friendly in Connecticut for Visual & Performing Arts that were part of this year’s ranking, Yale University landed the #1 spot on the list. New Haven, Connecticut is the setting for this fairly large institution of higher learning. The private not-for-profit school handed out ’s visual and performing arts degrees to 279 students in 2020-2021.
Yale did well in our major quality rankings, too. It placed #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] on our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” list.According to our most recent data, Yale supports 12,060 students, and 1 of those are GI Bill® students, of which 1 are Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average Post-9/11 GI Bill® award for tuition and fees at the school was $12,238. In addition to receiving other benefits, 0 students received funds through the Yellow Ribbon Program.
The school has an impressive undergrad student loan default rate. It’s only [DEFAULT_RATE_STRING]%, which is much lower than the national rate of 10.1%. The undergraduate student-to-faculty ratio of 4 to 1 is a sign that students will have more opportunities to engage with their professors one-on-one.

Out of the 10 schools in the Most Veteran Friendly in Connecticut for Visual & Performing Arts that were part of this year’s ranking, University of Connecticut landed the #2 spot on the list. This large school is located in Storrs, Connecticut, and it awarded 135 ’s visual and performing arts degrees in 2020-2021.
UCONN did well in our major quality rankings, too. It placed #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] on our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” list.According to our most recent data, University of Connecticut supports 27,215 students, and 1 of those are GI Bill® students, of which 0 are Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average Post-9/11 GI Bill® award for tuition and fees at the school was $0. During this same period, 0 students qualified for the Yellow Ribbon Program.
The low undergrad student loan default rate of [DEFAULT_RATE_STRING]% is a good sign that students have an easier time paying off their loans than they might at other schools. For comparison, the national default rate is 10.1%. Students who start out at the school are likely to stick around. The freshman retention rate is 93%.

You’ll join some of the best and brightest minds around if you attend Sacred Heart University. The school came in at #3 for the Most Veteran Friendly in Connecticut for Visual & Performing Arts. Sacred Heart University is located in Fairfield, Connecticut and, has a medium-sized student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 36 ’s visual and performing arts degrees to qualified students.
Sacred Heart did well in our major quality rankings, too. It placed #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] on our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” list.Among the 9,313 students enrolled at Sacred Heart, 139 are GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 82 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average Post-9/11 GI Bill® award for tuition and fees at the school was $12,785. During this same period, 35 students received funds through the Yellow Ribbon Program. Sacred Heart does offer credit for military training for eligible students.

For comparison, the national default rate is 10.1%. With a freshman retention rate of 87%, the school does an excellent job of retaining its undergraduate students.

University of New Haven is located in West Haven, Connecticut and, has a medium-sized student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 47 ’s visual and performing arts degrees to qualified students.
As a testament to the quality of education offered at University of New Haven, the school also landed the #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] spot in our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” ranking.According to our most recent data, University of New Haven supports 6,961 students, and 327 of those are GI Bill® students, of which 225 are Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average Post-9/11 GI Bill® award for tuition and fees at the school was $16,535. To help with additional expenses, 86 students qualified for the Yellow Ribbon Program. Students may be able to receive credit for their military training, depending on their background.

Located in Willimantic, Connecticut, this small public school handed out 57 degrees to qualified ’s visual and performing arts students in 2020-2021.
As a testament to the quality of education offered at ECSU, the school also landed the #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] spot in our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” ranking.Among the 4,644 students enrolled at Eastern Connecticut State University, 121 are GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Western Connecticut State University did quite well in the 2023 Most Veteran Friendly in Connecticut for Visual & Performing Arts ranking, coming in at #6. Western Connecticut State University is a public institution located in Danbury, Connecticut. The school has a small population, and it awarded 102 ’s degrees in 2020-2021.
WestConn also made our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” list, coming in at #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS].According to our most recent data, WestConn supports 5,246 students, and 119 of those are GI Bill® students, of which 83 are Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $9,114. On top of their other funding sources, 3 students received scholarships through the Yellow Ribbon Program. WestConn offers credit for military training for eligible students.

Central Connecticut State University did quite well in the 2023 Most Veteran Friendly in Connecticut for Visual & Performing Arts ranking, coming in at #7. This medium-sized school is located in New Britain, Connecticut, and it awarded 53 ’s visual and performing arts degrees in 2020-2021.
As a testament to the quality of education offered at CCSU, the school also landed the #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] spot in our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” ranking.Of the 10,652 students enrolled at CCSU, 321 were GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. With a ranking of #8, Southern Connecticut State University did quite well on the 2023 Most Veteran Friendly in Connecticut for Visual & Performing Arts list. New Haven, Connecticut is the setting for this medium-sized institution of higher learning. The public school handed out ’s visual and performing arts degrees to 36 students in 2020-2021.
In addition to being on our connecticut vets studying visual & performing arts list, SCSU has also earned the #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] rank in our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” ranking.Of the 9,331 students enrolled at SCSU, 301 were GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 202 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $10,110. On top of their other funding sources, 1 students received funds through the Yellow Ribbon Program. SCSU does offer credit for military training for eligible students.

University of Hartford ranked #9 on this year’s Most Veteran Friendly in Connecticut for Visual & Performing Arts list. UHart is a private not-for-profit institution located in West Hartford, Connecticut. The school has a medium-sized population, and it awarded 283 ’s degrees in 2020-2021.
UHart also took the #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] spot in our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” ranking.Of the 6,493 students enrolled at University of Hartford, 96 were GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data. Out of that number, 54 were Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients. The average tuition and fees award for the Post-9/11 GI Bill® recipients was $12,928. During this same period, 18 students received funds through the Yellow Ribbon Program. Eligible students may be able to receive credit for their military training.
The impressive undergraduate student-to-faculty ratio of 8 to 1 means that students may have more opportunities to work more closely with their professors than they would at other schools.

University of Bridgeport came in at #10 in this year’s edition of the Most Veteran Friendly in Connecticut for Visual & Performing Arts ranking. Located in Bridgeport, Connecticut, this small private not-for-profit school handed out 39 degrees to qualified ’s visual and performing arts students in 2020-2021.
UBridgeport did well in our major quality rankings, too. It placed #[COLLEGE_QUALITY_RANK_ALL_LEVELS] on our “[COLLEGE_QUALITY_NAME_ALL_LEVELS]” list.Of the 4,155 students enrolled at UBridgeport, 85 were GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data.
