Our analysis looked at 13 schools in the Southwest Region to determine which ones were the best for Bahamian students in the Southwest Region. Our ranking is based on several objective factors, including the school's overall quality and the total number of international students at the school. We steer clear of subjective measures since they don't give a clear picture when determining how one school compares to another.

Our 2021 rankings named Texas A&M University - College Station the best school for Bahamian students in the Southwest Region working on their bachelor’s degree. Located in College Station, Texas, the large public school awarded 13,409 diplomas to qualified bachelor’s degree students in 2020-2021.
International students make up 6.4% of the total student body at the school. Students studying at Texas A&M College Station come from such countries as China, India, and South Korea.
With a freshman retention rate of 94%, the school does an excellent job of retaining its students.

The excellent bachelor’s degree programs at The University of Texas at Austin helped the school earn the #2 place on this year’s ranking of the best schools for Bahamian students in the Southwest Region. Located in Austin, Texas, the large public school awarded 10,592 diplomas to qualified bachelor’s degree students in 2020-2021.
Of the total number of students at the school, 8.3% are international. Students from as far away as China, India, and South Korea come to UT Austin to study.
The school has an excellent freshman retention rate of 97%, which means students like the school well enough to return for a second year.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend University of Houston. It ranked #3 on our 2021 Best Colleges for Bahamian students in the Southwest Region list. Located in Houston, Texas, the large public school handed out 8,890 bachelor’s degrees in 2020-2021.
Around 7.0% of the total student population at the school is international. The top three countries sending students to study at UH are India, China, and Vietnam.
Students who start out at the school are likely to stick around. The freshman retention rate is 86%.

Oral Roberts University ranked #7 on this year’s Best Colleges for Bahamian Students in the Southwest Region list. Located in Tulsa, Oklahoma, the small private not-for-profit school awarded 627 diplomas to qualified bachelor’s degree students in 2020-2021.
Of the total number of students at the school, 14.9% are international. The top three countries sending students to study at ORU are Nigeria, South Korea, and India.

MSU Texas came in at #8 in this year’s edition of the Best Colleges for Bahamian Students in the Southwest Region ranking. Wichita Falls, Texas is the setting for this medium-sized institution of higher learning. The public school handed out bachelor’s degrees to 1,168 students in 2020-2021.

East Central University did quite well in the 2021 Best Colleges for Bahamian Students in the Southwest Region ranking, coming in at #10. ECU is a public institution located in Ada, Oklahoma. The school has a small population, and it awarded 534 bachelor’s degrees in 2020-2021.
International students make up 10.1% of the total student body at the school. The top three countries sending students to study at ECU are Nepal, Bahamas, and China.

University of Central Oklahoma landed the #11 spot on the 2021 Best Colleges for Bahamian Students in the Southwest Region. UCO is located in Edmond, Oklahoma and, has a fairly large student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 2,442 bachelor’s degrees to qualified undergraduates.
Around 3.8% of the total student population at the school is international. Students from as far away as Saudi Arabia, Nepal, and China come to UCO to study.
