Our analysis found Illinois Institute of Technology to be the best school for Jamaican students in the Great Lakes Region in this year’s ranking. Located in Chicago, Illinois, the medium-sized private not-for-profit school awarded 620 diplomas to qualified bachelor’s degree students in 2020-2021.
Of the total number of students at the school, 33.9% are international. The top three countries sending students to study at Illinois Tech are China, India, and Spain.
With a freshman retention rate of 87%, the school does an excellent job of retaining its students.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Northwestern University. It ranked #2 on our 2021 Best Colleges for Jamaican students in the Great Lakes Region list. Northwestern is a large private not-for-profit school situated in Evanston, Illinois. It awarded 2,722 bachelor’s degrees in 2020-2021.
International students make up 16.3% of the total student body at the school. The top three countries sending students to study at Northwestern are China, India, and South Korea.
With a freshman retention rate of 97%, the school does an excellent job of retaining its students.

A rank of #3 on our list means University of Michigan - Ann Arbor is a great place for Jamaican students in the Great Lakes Region working on their bachelor’s degree. This large public school is located in Ann Arbor, Michigan, and it awarded 9,144 bachelor’s degrees in 2020-2021.
Around 13.9% of the total student population at the school is international. Students studying at U-M come from such countries as China, India, and South Korea.
The school has an excellent freshman retention rate of 96%, which means students like the school well enough to return for a second year.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Andrews University. It ranked #5 on our 2021 Best Colleges for Jamaican students in the Great Lakes Region list. Berrien Springs, Michigan is the setting for this small institution of higher learning. The private not-for-profit school handed out bachelor’s degrees to 347 students in 2020-2021.
Around 23.4% of the total student population at the school is international. Students studying at Andrews come from such countries as South Korea, Canada, and Brazil.

With a ranking of #6, University of Cincinnati - Main Campus did quite well on the 2021 Best Colleges for Jamaican Students in the Great Lakes Region. Located in Cincinnati, Ohio, the large public school handed out 6,500 bachelor’s degrees in 2020-2021.
Of the total number of students at the school, 7.3% are international. Students from as far away as India, China, and South Korea come to UC to study.
Students who start out at the school are likely to stick around. The freshman retention rate is 88%.

With a ranking of #7, Indiana University - Bloomington did quite well on the 2021 Best Colleges for Jamaican Students in the Great Lakes Region. IU Bloomington is located in Bloomington, Indiana and, has a large student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 7,959 bachelor’s degrees to qualified undergraduates.
Around 10.2% of the total student population at the school is international. Students from as far away as China, India, and South Korea come to IU Bloomington to study.
The school has an excellent freshman retention rate of 91%, which means students like the school well enough to return for a second year.

Western Michigan University landed the #8 spot on the 2021 Best Colleges for Jamaican Students in the Great Lakes Region. Western Michigan University is a fairly large public school located in Kalamazoo, Michigan that handed out 3,747 bachelor’s degrees in 2020-2021.

With a ranking of #9, University of Toledo did quite well on the 2021 Best Colleges for Jamaican Students in the Great Lakes Region. University of Toledo is a fairly large public school situated in Toledo, Ohio. It awarded 3,236 bachelor’s degrees in 2020-2021.
International students make up 6.9% of the total student body at the school. The top three countries sending students to study at University of Toledo are Saudi Arabia, India, and China.

Huntington University did quite well in the 2021 Best Colleges for Jamaican Students in the Great Lakes Region ranking, coming in at #10. Huntington is a private not-for-profit institution located in Huntington, Indiana. The school has a small population, and it awarded 265 bachelor’s degrees in 2020-2021.
Of the total number of students at the school, 2.7% are international. The top three countries sending students to study at Huntington are Jamaica, China, and Canada.

Cleveland State University ranked #11 on this year’s Best Colleges for Jamaican Students in the Great Lakes Region list. Located in Cleveland, Ohio, the fairly large public school handed out 2,817 bachelor’s degrees in 2020-2021.
