After analyzing 12 schools in the New England Region , we came up with our list of those that offered the best educational experiences for Sri Lankan students in the New England Region. Instead of depending on subjective information, we focus on objective factors to determine this ranking. These factors include such things as the total number of international students at the school and the school's overall quality.

Northeastern University tops this year’s ranking as the best school for Sri Lankan students in the New England Region. Located in Boston, Massachusetts, the large private not-for-profit school handed out 4,358 bachelor’s degrees in 2020-2021.

International students make up 29.2% of the total student body at the school. Students studying at Northeastern come from such countries as China, India, and Taiwan.

With a freshman retention rate of 97%, the school does an excellent job of retaining its students.

You’ll join some of the best and brightest minds around if you attend Boston University. The school came in at #2 in this year’s ranking. Boston U is a private not-for-profit institution located in Boston, Massachusetts. The school has a large population, and it awarded 4,788 bachelor’s degrees in 2020-2021.

International students make up 24.6% of the total student body at the school. Students from as far away as China, India, and South Korea come to Boston U to study.

The school has an excellent freshman retention rate of 92%, which means students like the school well enough to return for a second year.

Out of the 12 schools in the New England Region that were part of this year’s ranking, Harvard University landed the #3 spot on the list. Harvard is located in Cambridge, Massachusetts and, has a large student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 1,618 bachelor’s degrees to qualified undergraduates.

International students make up 22.9% of the total student body at the school. The top three countries sending students to study at Harvard are China, Canada, and India.

The impressive student-to-faculty ratio of 5 to 1 means that students may have more opportunities to work more closely with their professors than they would at other schools.

Out of the 12 schools in the New England Region that were part of this year’s ranking, University of Connecticut landed the #4 spot on the list. Storrs, Connecticut is the setting for this large institution of higher learning. The public school handed out bachelor’s degrees to 5,991 students in 2020-2021.

Of the total number of students at the school, 13.1% are international. Students from as far away as China, India, and South Korea come to UCONN to study.

With a freshman retention rate of 93%, the school does an excellent job of retaining its students.

You’ll be in good company if you decide to attend Massachusetts Institute of Technology. It ranked #5 on our 2021 Best Colleges for Sri Lankan students in the New England Region list. MIT is a private not-for-profit institution located in Cambridge, Massachusetts. The school has a fairly large population, and it awarded 1,249 bachelor’s degrees in 2020-2021.

Around 29.1% of the total student population at the school is international. Students from as far away as China, India, and Canada come to MIT to study.

The student-to-faculty ratio of 3 to 1 is a sign that students will have more opportunities to engage with their professors one-on-one.

Yale University landed the #6 spot on the 2021 Best Colleges for Sri Lankan Students in the New England Region. New Haven, Connecticut is the setting for this fairly large institution of higher learning. The private not-for-profit school handed out bachelor’s degrees to 1,431 students in 2020-2021.

Around 21.1% of the total student population at the school is international. Students studying at Yale come from such countries as China, Canada, and India.

The student-to-faculty ratio of 4 to 1 is a sign that students will have more opportunities to engage with their professors one-on-one.

With a ranking of #7, University of Massachusetts Amherst did quite well on the 2021 Best Colleges for Sri Lankan Students in the New England Region. This large public school is located in Amherst, Massachusetts, and it awarded 6,844 bachelor’s degrees in 2020-2021.

Around 10.6% of the total student population at the school is international. The top three countries sending students to study at UMass Amherst are China, India, and South Korea.

Students who start out at the school are likely to stick around. The freshman retention rate is 89%.

Around 26.3% of the total student population at the school is international. Students from as far away as China, Vietnam, and Pakistan come to Mt. Holyoke to study.

The impressive student-to-faculty ratio of 9 to 1 means that students may have more opportunities to work more closely with their professors than they would at other schools.

Clark University landed the #9 spot on the 2021 Best Colleges for Sri Lankan Students in the New England Region. Clark is located in Worcester, Massachusetts and, has a small student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 631 bachelor’s degrees to qualified undergraduates.

Around 26.2% of the total student population at the school is international. The top three countries sending students to study at Clark are China, India, and Vietnam.

University of Massachusetts - Lowell came in at #10 in this year’s edition of the Best Colleges for Sri Lankan Students in the New England Region ranking. Located in Lowell, Massachusetts, the fairly large public school awarded 3,168 diplomas to qualified bachelor’s degree students in 2020-2021.

International students make up 5.6% of the total student body at the school. The top three countries sending students to study at UMass Lowell are India, China, and Vietnam.

University of Maine ranked #12 on this year’s Best Colleges for Sri Lankan Students in the New England Region list. UMaine is located in Orono, Maine and, has a fairly large student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 2,012 bachelor’s degrees to qualified undergraduates.

Of the total number of students at the school, 3.7% are international. Students studying at UMaine come from such countries as China, Canada, and Saudi Arabia.
