In 2020-2021, 2,724 people earned their degree in American Sign Language, making the major the 199th most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, American Sign Language graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $32,250 and had an average of $24,208 in loans still to pay off.

This year’s “Best Value ASL Schools For Those Getting Aid” ranking looked at 25 colleges that offer degrees in a bachelor’s in American Sign Language. This ranking identifies schools with high-quality American Sign Language programs that also have a lower cost than schools of similar quality.

The undergrad student loan default rate at the school is 3.4%, which is quite low when compared to the national default rate of 10.1%.

Out of the 25 schools in the Best Value ASL Schools For Those Getting Aid that were part of this year’s ranking, Weber State University landed the #3 spot on the list. Ogden, Utah is the setting for this large institution of higher learning. The public school handed out ’s ASL degrees to 9 students in 2020-2021.

WSU also took the #16 spot in our “Best American Sign Language Schools” ranking. It costs about $11,647 for ASL students with aid per year to attend Weber State University.
