With all of the options veterans have for higher education today, it can be tough to choose which direction to take. Our mission at College Factual is to arm you with as much information as we can to help you make that decision. Our “Most Veteran Friendly for ASL for a Bachelor’s” ranking is one tool we have developed to help in this regard.
American Sign Language is the 199th most popular major in the country with 2,724 degrees awarded in 2020-2021. In 2019-2020, American Sign Language graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $32,250 and had an average of $24,208 in loans still to pay off.
At the bachelor’s degree level specifically, there were 548 American Sign Language graduates with average earnings and debt of $39,682 and $26,217 respectively.
This year’s “Most Veteran Friendly for ASL for a Bachelor’s” ranking analyzed 23 colleges that offered a degree in American Sign Language. Not only do the schools that top this list have excellent American Sign Language programs, but they also offer a lot of support to veterans and active service members.
To come up with these rankings, we looked at factors such as veteran satisfaction, veteran affordability, and overall quality of the American Sign Language program at the school. Check out our ranking methodology for more information.

Top 23 Best American Sign Language Bachelor’s Degree Colleges for Veterans
Out of the 23 schools in the Most Veteran Friendly for ASL for a Bachelor’s that were part of this year’s ranking, Rochester Institute of Technology landed the #1 spot on the list. RIT is located in Rochester, New York and, has a fairly large student population. In 2020-2021, this school awarded 32 bachelors’s ASL degrees to qualified students.
As a testament to the quality of education offered at RIT, the school also landed the #3 spot in our “Best American Sign Language Bachelor’s Degree Schools” ranking.Of the 16,158 students enrolled at Rochester Institute of Technology, 1 were GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data.
