When it comes to choosing a college, veterans have a lot of options - but not all of them are good. College Factual has developed its “Most Veteran Friendly in the Southeast Region for German for a Bachelor’s” ranking as one item you can use to help make this decision.
In 2020-2021, 1,425 people earned their degree in Germanic languages, making the major the 222nd most popular in the United States. In 2019-2020, Germanic languages graduates who were awarded their degree in 2017-2019, earned an average of $55,443 and had an average of $24,646 in loans still to pay off.
Across the Southeast region, there were 212 Germanic languages graduates with average earnings and debt of $28,830 and $25,925 respectively. At the bachelor’s degree level specifically, there were 190 Germanic languages graduates with average earnings and debt of $37,400 and $27,180 respectively.
For this year’s “Most Veteran Friendly in the Southeast Region for German for a Bachelor’s” ranking, we looked at 18 colleges that offer a degree in Germanic languages. The schools that top this list are recognized because they have great Germanic languages programs and a strong support system for veterans and active service members.

Top 18 Best Germanic Languages Bachelor’s Degree Colleges for Veterans in the Southeast Region
Out of the 18 schools in the Most Veteran Friendly in the Southeast Region for German for a Bachelor’s that were part of this year’s ranking, William & Mary landed the #1 spot on the list. William & Mary is a medium-sized school located in Williamsburg, Virginia that handed out 8 bachelors’s German degrees in 2020-2021.
In addition to being on our southeast region bachelor’s degree vets studying german list, William & Mary has also earned the #6 rank in our “Best Germanic Languages Bachelor’s Degree Schools in the Southeast Region” ranking.Among the 8,939 students enrolled at William & Mary, 531 are GI Bill® students, according to our most recent data.
